March Crafting Fun Recap

Hello, it’s Anna, your friendly neighborhood librarian! I’m here with another update on our Crafting Fun!

For March I decided we would take inspiration from the deep sea.

This painting features a gradient from white to dark blue to emulate light passing through the water. To finish off this fun painting, our crafters created a school of fish swimming towards the surface!

I love that you can create a stunning design using only a few colors!

I hope you enjoyed our ocean-themed Crafting Fun and I can’t wait to see you in April!

February Crafting Fun Recap

Hello, it’s Anna, your friendly neighborhood librarian! I’m here with another update on our Crafting Fun!

This month I thought we would try out a different painting style with these adorable cacti!

For this painting our artists started with the same drawing, but they had the option to customize the colors of several elements.

I love to see the different color combinations people came up with! Page through this gallery to see each unique painting.

It can be so fun to experiment with colors and styles when painting. I try to change up the style of the paintings we create every month.

Thank you so much for attending February’s Crafting Fun event. Don’t forget to join us next month!

January Crafting Fun Recap

Hello, it’s Anna, your friendly neighborhood librarian! I’m here with another update on our Crafting Fun!

This month I decided to create a design based on the beautiful cherry blossoms in Washington DC.

Our artists created this scene using a variety of techniques. To achieve the look of cascading cherry blossom petals, we used q-tips to dot on the paint!

One of my favorite aspects of this painting is the contrast between the deep blue sky with the pink and white cherry blossoms. This combination makes of colors is always so striking.

Trying something new can be challenging but these artists did a magnificent job capturing the beauty of this spring composition!

Click through these galleries to check out their work.

Thank you for attending our January Crafting Fun event and make sure to stop by next month!

December Crafting Fun Recap

Hello, it’s Anna, your friendly neighborhood librarian! I’m here with another update on our Crafting Fun!

Artists of all ages filled the reading room for our December Crafting Fun event!

Through step-by-step instruction participants learned to create a magical winter scene.

One of my favorite parts about this painting is the gradual shift in the sky from pink to blue to purple. These colors always look so beautiful when combined.

To see the amazing artwork each artist created at the event scroll through this gallery!

Each painting captures the beauty of winter as the snow falls among silhouetted trees.

Thank you for attending our December Crafting Fun Event and I hope to see you on January 15th where we will create an acrylic painting of cherry blossoms!
