Kids Summer Reading Program
The program is for Toddler – 5th Grade and runs from June 12th to August 18th.
You can win prizes just by checking out books this summer! Fill out a log sheet with the books you read this summer and earn prize tickets to put in the end-of-summer drawing. You could win a cool prize as a reward for reading. But the best prize will be the fun stories you read!
Check out the fun drop-in activities that will be happening in the library this summer. You’ll be SO glad you did!
Preschool Storytime
Storytime continues every Friday! We welcome children from 18 months to age 5, and sometimes older (or younger) ones, too.
We encourage you to allow enough time for your children to explore the toys available, play with the other children, & of course select books to take home.
1000 Books Before Kindergarten
THE IDEA IS SIMPLE – THE REWARDS ARE PRICELESS!
The goal is to read 1,000 books (yes, you can repeat books) before your little one starts kindergarten. Sign up, get a book bag and record sheet to begin, then earn rewards along the way.
Why should you participate? Reading together creates a great bond with your child, it develops your child’s love of reading and gets them ready to read, and instills a love of books in your child. This program is for children from birth to age 5 not yet in kindergarten.

This resource is low in technology, but high in engagement and reliability. All the projects can be made with low cost or recycled materials. Upper elementary through middle school.
Science Friday
Everything from “The Many Types of Mucus” to a “Fossilize Me” card game is available here. Key vocabulary words are bolded, and the clear instructions are written with students in mind. Upper elementary and up.
MakeCode
Microsoft’s MakeCode program includes both physical computing with the Micro Bit and virtual coding and app development. Easy to use with limitless possibilities, it’s a great block coding interface. It even has Minecraft coding! Upper elementary through middle school.
Scratch
Now in partnership with Harvard Graduate School of Education, the site includes an archive of activities for Scratch that includes 323 math activities, 302 visual arts ones, plus examples and stories to help build classroom community and support curricular content. Elementary through middle school.
